Characters:

• Nicole - Late 30’s, single for 3 years and it’s been a while since she’s had some fun, overqualified for the role she’s in - was desperate for a job after being fired, heavy in social media background, straight female, but VERY flirty
• JV - Mid 20’s, single?, ADHD, Aspiring Creator, bestie material, loud extrovert, and fitness enthusiast
• Elena - Early 30’s, single? (baby mama drama), lesbian, from same hometown as Nicole and has multiple mutual connections
• Roosevelt - Early 20’s, single, first person to have a full conversation with Nicole due to a work partnership assignment, he’s shy and quiet but with heavy aggressive traits (only Nicole knows about his aggressive traits due to romance hookup that happens after this scene)
• Tex - Early to mid 30’s, married, 2 kids, beautiful blue eyes, very friendly and always supportive

Scene: The location is the USTT building. It’s a worn out, 90’s style, 15th floor building in Downtown Dallas, Texas. The company is mostly known as a Communication Company and the objective is for the workers to “sell the product” no matter the circumstances.

Nicole and her coworkers are in an open cubicle setting. She is on the right side of the cubbie row, actually it’s the last desk next to the wall. Behind her is a coffee desk and then a window that shows the dark, night sky. The seat next to her left is empty and in front of that empty desk is Roosevelt. Behind him is Tex and then it’s Elena. There are 3 empty desks in front of Nicole and then JV. (Nicole’s work crush)

On the far, far left by Roosevelt is a manager. He could possibly be paying attention, making sure that the team is getting those “sales,” or he could also be wasting company time. Regardless, he’s not visible but the employees know he is there.

The employees are communicating via chat, because they are all on work calls; attempting to make “sales.” They will be reading or saying their messages out loud, as well as dictating the emojis being used in the chat so that the audience has an idea of what they are typing or using. When they talk to their customers, they make the voices that the parents or grownups in Charlie Brown use. Except for Nicole. 

Nicole: Thank you for calling USTT, my name is Nicole. How can I help you out today?

Customer: My bill is $1,645.45 and I know there’s an extra $600 coming from somewhere else. I know I’m behind on my payments but this doesn’t make sense.

Nicole: That’s an INSANE amount of money for a cell phone bill, don’t worry. I can take a look at it. What is your name, address, and pin #?

Customer: Jose Martinez and then voice turns into Charlie Brown grownup voice.

Nicole: Ok Mr. Martinez, I’ll take a look into this. No worries. I’ll help you out. I’m putting you on a hold. Also, that’s my best friend’s name, Jose. BRB!

Elena: I’m really trying to get this sale. I need it. My roommates and I just bought a house. 

Tex: Man, you got this! People should be buying loads of phones and lines right now. It’s tax season… this always happens or… it's happened at other places I’ve worked at. (Laughing emoji)

Elena:  I hope so, I could use the money for extra decorations. I wish I had a better eye for aesthetics like Nicole. Since she does the social media thing.

Nicole: I’m sure you’re good at it Elena, don’t worry. Congrats on the new house!!! (Thinks out loud).  “When did I tell her that I do social media work? Maybe she found out from Roosevelt, yeah.. I mean, they're always going to lunch together. He must’ve told her. Right?”

JV: We got this team. (Inserts anime quote and gif)

Nicole: What is he even talking about? Grunts softly. “Who cares, he looks hot as fuck today. (Types: Yeah, we got this team!) Mr. Martinez, hi. I found the error and it seems you’re being billed for something that doesn’t apply to your account. I have to get authorization to have it removed. Please continue to hold.

Elena: I think I have this sale in the bag! I love your outfit today by the way, Nicole.

Nicole: Thank you! Blushing face emoji

Roosevelt: Yeah, that’s a dope shirt! Star eye emoji

Nicole was wearing an Anime tshirt, cute outfit overall with some pointy flats and a matching purse. She thought that JV would make a comment about the T-shirt since he won’t shut up about his trip to Tokyo and his love for anime, but he hasn’t made a single comment to her yet. 

Tex: Yeah, my kids love that anime. Speaking of kids, I’m starving. Glad we’re almost out. My wife said she had a special surprise dinner planned and I hope it’s my favorite!

Nicocle: What is it?

Tex: Enchiladas, I can't get enough!

Roosevelt: That sounds good right about now, wash them down with some beers, and we’re golden. 

JV stands up facing the audience/screen and moves to the middle of the room with his headset. A white board is brought out by people wearing all red and place the board next to him. He moves a little to the left, making room for someone else. Nicole gets up with her headset and stands on the opposite side of the white board from JV. The people in red bring a chair for Nicole and a standing desk for JV.

Everyone continues to work, the lights dim and the focus is on Nicole and JV. The chatter and voices of everyone else simmer down and are barely recognizable.

Nicole slouches on the chair and JV puts one hand on the desk and keeps waving his free hand. He’s a talker with his whole body, because he really can’t sit still. He starts to talk to his customer.

Nicole finally perks up by the sound of him, looks up at the ceiling, and to the side where his voice is coming from. “If you could give me a few minutes. I’m going to keep looking into this for you Mr Martinez. I promise, I’m almost done.” - A click sound is heard and Nicole slouches again. She removes her headset and starts to type. “It sounds like you’re making a sale, JV! Star eyed emoji”

JV: I think so, but I’m working really hard for it. Emoji with sweat on it’s forehead. (No enthusiasm while saying this)

Nicole: Don’t worry, you got this! Winking eye emoji - Perks up again

JV: Thank you but abbreviated to ty. Emoji with sweat on forehead

JV continues to talk to his customer for what seems like a long time. Enough time passes, enough time that gives Nicole the free will to use her imagination and fantasies of her and JV to climax. Nicole slouches again and starts making extra relaxed facial expressions. All of the remaining coworkers surround them in a half circle and stare at them. Nicole continues with her facial expression but stands up facing JV.

Nicole: Hi, just so you know Mr. Martinez, I’m still researching this for you. (click sound)

JV’s voice starts getting louder, his hands and body movements start to become a bit more exaggerated and finally after 30 seconds of this Nicole sighs in relief. It’s small, a tiny and gentle gesture that one can barely notice. No loud moans, no crazy expressions. Pure softness but her face shows relaxation.

Elena grunts loud as if upset and Nicole continues in her same spot.

JV does the typing motion - “I got the sale!”

Nicole: I told you. I knew you would! smile-smirk emoji 

Everyone goes back to their cubicles. The people in red step forward to remove the white board that was between Nicole and JV. After removing the board, the people in red come forward again to remove JV from the scene. They drag him and remove the standing desk away. They slowly drag him through the row and stop in front of Nicole’s cubicle. He smiles at her but it doesn’t feel genuine, almost like he’s relieved in an unsettling way, and then he looks away. The people in red continue to drag him away into the darkness.

Nicole: I was able to find the error with your bill and I have been trying my best to open a ticket for this issue. (She says all of this in a calm and low pitch voice) Please be assured that I will also be applying this credit you are asking for. I think it’s absurd that you have this additional $600 charge on your account and I can only imagine paying $1000.00 for a phone bill.. I could never! But I’m helping you!

Customer: Thank you soooooo much, please continue to take your time. (The customer sounds relieved but confused.)

Nicole: (still in a soft tone) Thank you, one moment please. (Click sound)

Elena: I just got off this call, no sale. (Grunts again) Bye guys, see you tomorrow online. (Walks off)

Tex: Bye! My wife is making enchiladas and my in-laws are in town, this should be interesting… (Walks off)

The people in red slowly bring JV back to his cubicle and Nicole asks, “So, did you get the sale?” (In an exciting tone)

JV is still being dragged to his cubicle but looks back and says, “Barely, just barely.” He grabs his belongings from his desk and walks off.

Roosevelt: Yes! I made 3 sales on this call. (He stares at Nicole and smiles)

Nicole: (She ignores Roosevelt and checks in on customer) Ok Mr. Martinez, I finally applied that $600 credit and opened the ticket for you. Everything was finally approved. Anything else I can help out with today? (Her tone has gone back to normal)

Customer: OMG, thank you again! Have a good day.

Nicole: You too Mr. Martinez and thank you for being a USTT customer.

Roosevelt walks up to Nicole and smiles really big. He stares at her with admiration. “Bye Nicole, I hope you have a good evening.” He says awkwardly and proceeds to extend a pound it movement with his right hand.

Nicole: Bye Roosevelt, see you online tomorrow. (Does a small smirk and puts out her hand to pound his hand and he walks away.) “I hate this job.” (BIG SIGH)

The people dressed in red come in and drag Nicole while she’s still on the chair. She yanks the headset out and is wheeled away in her chair into the darkness.
